At the helm
A glimpse of Limolo's living room catapults you into the Limolo-Sustainability dimension. Here, Architect Luciano Pia chose to leap from bio-architecture to the language of art and make the raw materials and textures of the structure, fundamentally earth and lime, dialogue with objects borrowed from other contexts or composed by other artists. The layers of construction left exposed with the cables and pipes of the few existing systems. So they can tell their story of restoration and essentiality.
Just a moment-why did we choose a rudder specifically to tell you about this journey of ours?
In addition to being a salvage item from a glorious racing boat and expressing all our passion for sailing, the sea and water in general, it also has strong symbolism because it signifies direction, stability and security, travel but also adventure, responsibility and leadership, not least adaptability.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
All chosen materials are recyclable, reusable, or compostable. They are mostly raw materials such as glass, iron, ceramics, wood, and stone. Objects that find their second or third life at Limolo. Upon arrival at Limolo, we invite you to refresh yourself with fresh mint from our garden, immersing yourself in the unique atmosphere of our outdoor spaces enriched with artistic installations and natural reeds. Over the years, we have strengthened our bond with local Sardinian producers, selected to offer you authentic products such as bread, jams, handmade biscuits, and locally roasted and ground coffee. We will be proud to introduce them to you! Come and learn their stories.
The Breakfast Kit
Each room at Limolo is equipped with a unique breakfast kit, made with artisanal objects and natural materials or upcycled items. Enjoy washing them in the 'Basin Vert,' Luciano Pia's Green installation, with eco-friendly detergents. You'll understand how much water you can save with a little attention. And what about the water used? Choose a plant to donate it to along with the coffee grounds. Welcome to Limolo's Green crew. The green of the garden depends on you. A small daily gesture that enriches both the environment and the spirit.
Pumpkins are Falling
Don't be surprised if you see tomatoes on the trees or pumpkins falling from the roof. It's the Jardin Fruttier of Limoletto, the latest creation of Luciano Pia, who had fun in his own way among pergolas, reeds, and hanging pots to make all these plants bloom and produce, in a cheerful tangle without rules other than those decided by nature, while contributing to lowering the internal temperature of the rooms.
The Ecological Island
Where will you put the rest of the waste if you really couldn't avoid producing it? In our Ecological Island, also so blooming and green that you could mistake it for a piece of the garden. Strictly differentiated, they will 'take you' around the world because infographics and articles on our notice board will illustrate what they can become after recycling and how transformation cycles work (we have been nothing less than at EcoMondo and we will want to tell you what we saw).
Your Room
Well, it's time to take a moment to focus on your room. Don't expect to find branded furniture here because they're either vintage pieces we've salvaged or ones we've built ourselves using leftover roof wood.A touch of artistry never hurts, and each room has at least one piece signed by artists specialized in using natural materials.The graphics by our friend Angelina Annis will humorously remind you not to forget to turn off the lights or the fan, and... if you're clean after four minutes of showering and 40 liters of water, it's worth practicing water conservation.
You may be wondering where the remote control for the air conditioner is? You will never find it because air conditioning is outdated concept and contrary to our philosophy. Consumption is not the answer to the heat of recent times. In Limolo, other solutions and maneuvering ventilation holes and windows, a bit like “sailors by accident,” and thanks to plants and trees that generously reciprocate our care by shading the rooms and contributing to natural venitilation in the rooms, we will show you that a pleasant temperature is possible even without the obnoxious splitters.
Limolo has the record of the lowest energy consumption of all Cabras accommodations in 2022 and 2023. Help us improve again in 2024.
Sustainable Mobility
Alright, we won't reveal any more... You'll find two vintage French bicycles at your disposal to enjoy a wonderful ride around the town of Cabras and along the long lagoon. Long live sustainable mobility! You'll also have Limolo canvas bags for your shopping and the addresses of all our zero-kilometer producers, carefully selected based on their sustainable practices, often suggested by us (especially after the European TouriSMe Project, which we never miss an opportunity to thank).
Social Inclusion
Limòlo promotes social inclusion by ensuring accessibility for all through spaces and services suitable for people with reduced mobility and visually impaired individuals. Our activities highlight the local area, offering alternative routes to explore nature away from the crowds, whether on foot, by bicycle, or through car sharing. Additionally, we reinvest part of our earnings in tree planting, extending this green commitment to the surrounding areas of Limòlo as well.
Sustainable Stays and Events... Plan Yours!
Limolo House serves as a hub for "green" events, with standout initiatives like "Save the Traditional Cabras" in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Turin, Jao Tong University in Shanghai, and other local stakeholders. In addition to this, together with our partners, we organize a variety of initiatives, from conferences to photography and design workshops using natural elements, team-building activities, and themed stays. We have been successfully selected and are part of research studies and European projects for sustainable tourism (currently www.EcoTours-Project.eu 2024). Every Tuesday, we offer the "Green Aperitif," a moment of sharing and discussion on current "eco" topics.
